Participation in RECAP continues to grow. There are currently 21 cooperatives that have either gone through the assessment or are signed up to complete the process in 2024. We continue to encourage participation for all ƹ϶Ƶ cooperatives. “Cooperation Among Cooperatives” is working to maximize the value this program brings to our members.
- The 2023 assessments have produced some actionable items common to many of the co-ops. The top five common areas identified are being used by the IT Managers Association to develop templates and “best practices” for the benefit of the group.
- Second-round assessments find value in reviewing the same questions to provide further clarity.
- On the second visit, we can provide an open-source intelligence report (OSINT) that gathers publicly available information to help the coop further understand its vulnerabilities.
- We are considering adding a “recognition” program that acknowledges the efforts being made at the cooperative to address the items identified during the assessment.
- We are monitoring regulatory activity that may create mandatory reporting of cyber breaches.
- Co-ops have formed alliances with other co-ops to bolster their cybersecurity maturity.
As we begin the second-round assessments, we are encouraged by improvements that ƹ϶Ƶ’s cooperatives are making to maximize their cybersecurity maturity by addressing the vulnerabilities that are identified during the RECAP assessment. We encourage all co-ops to participate in this ongoing effort toward continual cybersecurity advancement. For more information, please contact Steve Savon at (614) 580-6011.
