This issue’s cooperative highlight features Live Line demonstration. Union Rural Electric’s safety coordinator Robert McClintock has been conducting safety demonstrations all around »Æ¹Ï¶ÌÊÓƵ for the last 35 years with the goal of saving lives through education. The Live-Line demonstration was designed to teach both children and adults in »Æ¹Ï¶ÌÊÓƵ communities the dangers of contacting a power line. This demonstration includes a visual trailer set-up that gives the audience a close-up view of various conductors, components, and safety equipment that is used by electrical line workers. This helps to spread the understanding of how distribution systems operate and emphasizes the dangers of live wires and downed powerlines.Ìý
This is a free program that Union offers, and it can be scheduled for schools, civic organizations, and public service groups that are interested. Special thanks to Robert McClintock for providing the information on this great program!
If your cooperative has a great safety practice that you would like to share, please email Harrison Metcalf at hmetcalf@ohioec.org, along with a description of the practice which will be featured in an upcoming issue of SAFELINES!
