Nanci McMaken, Vice President and Chief Communications Officer for Pioneer Electric Cooperative in Piqua, OH, is retiring on February 4, 2022 after 40 years of service.Â
Overseeing a department of 13, Nanci has been responsible for developing and implementing strategic marketing and communication programs, creating excellent member service experiences, and promoting strong member involvement in community and government relations. Her role has been responsible for all functions and activities of the member services department, governance issues administering the Cooperative Code of Regulations, coordinating pertinent information with other departments within the cooperative, and communicating with the membership and public. Specific emphasis was placed upon promotion of efficient electrical use, attention to consumer inquiries, timely dissemination of information, pursuit of city franchises, participation in community affairs, and legislative liaison functions.
In her 40 years of service, she built relationships with board members, CEOs, and leaders throughout the country while attending trainings, conferences, and other networking events. Nanci graduated from the NRECA Management Internship Program in 2005. Nanci impacted and influenced advisory committees at a statewide and national level including »Æ¹Ï¶ÌÊÓƵ Electric Cooperative’s Advertising Advisory Committee (1999-2019), »Æ¹Ï¶ÌÊÓƵ Electric Cooperative’s Marketing Committee (2002-present), the National Rural Electric Association’s Communications Task Force Committee (2003), and the Touchstone Energy Strategic Communications Committee (2013-2019). Nanci has been a spokesperson for several years leading multiple »Æ¹Ï¶ÌÊÓƵ Cooperatives during the annual Legislative Conference visits in Washington D.C. and spoke numerous times at NRECA and OEC conferences.
