COVID-19 outbreak highlights need for high-speed internet in rural ƹ϶Ƶ

With employees across the state working from home and schools closed through the end of April, the lack of high-speed internet access in rural areas has put many ƹ϶Ƶ families at a significant disadvantage.

Doug Miller, OEC vice president of statewide services, authored  on the subject.

“Lack of broadband access hampers education, economic development, health care delivery, and social connectivity. In a time when social distancing has become the order of the day, rural populations have been technologically relegated to such for years,” said Miller.

Ѿ ƹ϶Ƶ to address the struggles facing rural ƹ϶Ƶans during this time.

Additionally, OEC Director of Communications and Member Services Patrick Higgins appeared in  on the challenges facing rural students in households who lack broadband access.
